There was a suicide bombing in Tel Aviv this afternoon. It occurred in the area of the old bus station, a rabbit warren of stores and stalls selling low-priced merchandise, small restaurants, and old housing that serves low-come Israelis and numerous foreign workers, many of them illegal. There were 22 injured, only one of whom in critical condition. The bomber was the only fatality. Police report that only part of the device exploded. A radio report was that the bomber fired his belt early, when a security officer ordered him away from a restaurant. A newscaster speculated that the bomber was not sufficiently "experienced."
