A group of anti-war protesters in Olympia, WA rioted yesterday in hopes of preventing the shipment of essential supplies to our troops in Iraq.
The protesters beat drums and banged stones in rhythm against chain-link fencing separating the Port Plaza from a dock, showing their opposition to an Army shipment of equipment from the port to the Iraqi war zone.An Army spokeswoman described the contents of shipping containers as "miscellaneous supplies and equipment", including gloves and medical supplies. The demonstrators flashed peace signs with their fingers and chanted a variety of anti-war slogans. At one point, some of them ripped a section of chain-link fencing from posts and briefly trespassed on off- limits port property.
The protesters vowed to attend Monday's port commission meeting in hopes of persuading the commission to stop accepting shipments to and from the war zone.No doubt the protesters will tell you that their activity is a form of patriotism and an important way to support our troops.

Someone should get name rank and serial number on all these traitors and publish them widely enough so they can never escape the consequences of their treason. Kinda like Swift Boat Veterans in case they run for office.

Posted by: Bleeding heart conservative on November 20, 2004 09:27 AMyes, opposing war as the founding fathers did is treason to the new America. Individual rights and the principles of liberalism that this country was founded on are treachery and treason.
Viva fascism. War is fulfillment of the highest order of humanity.
Posted by: just pete on November 20, 2004 01:00 PMMaybe "just pete" could enlighten us on in exactly what way it is that the Founding Fathers opposed war. A great many of them fought a war, I seem to recall, to create the nation that those protesters who stormed the Port of Olympia Thursday seem to hate so much.
"just pete" might want to change his moniker to "just nonsense."
Posted by: J. Archer on November 20, 2004 04:08 PMProtesting outside the fence, which doesn't actually interfere with the loading going on inside, is, I suppose not an overt act aiding the enemy. I'd still say they are 'adhering to the enemy', and therefore can at best expect to be treated as enemy soldiers, i.e. shot on sight.
But the moment any of them takes a physical action which intereferes with the shipment, they have committed treason, and if two witnesses can be found to the act, they should be tried for that crime. A few such trials, and subsequent executions, should be enough to put an end to this nonsense.

Posted by: Brent Anderson on November 21, 2004 06:53 AMSurely you all remember the anti-war protests at Bunker Hill?
Or the triumph of the pacifists at Princeton?
Weren't they the focus of that essay on "Sunshine Pacifists"?
And who can forget the contributions of pacifists at Yorktown, King's Mountain, and Cowpens?
Sheesh. What ARE they teaching in American history, these days?
Posted by: Dean on November 22, 2004 12:12 PMThis is agreat beginning of the anti- war movement, Remeber in Viet Nam it was tentative to start. Opponents of the war were favoring the communits menace and domino thoery that would sweep Asia.
Colleges need to be fermentations---- wlse what is freedom of thought and action? Escaping the stupidity of high shool is elexir by itself.
The real tratiors send solider into combat with gus, armor and armored vehicle, and then deny the combat pay and good hospital care when the return all shot off. Too say notherg if disibility claims stacked up for two and three yearsThe mindless flag wavers make me cry for democract and greedom of expression. And I am a patriot- Navy vet to boot.
Posted by: roray on November 22, 2004 01:58 PMOne of the individuals arrested actually writes for the South Puget Sound Community College newspaper, and is a student at said institution.
It's sort of a AAA farm team for the so-called Major Leagues at Evergreen.
And Just Pete? Open (and read) a damn text book - yes, even a liberally biased text book - and learn a bit about history before you show your ignorance in public.
Posted by: jimg on November 22, 2004 05:01 PMI was actually a student at Evergreen, possibly the only conservative student to walk the campus in decades. I am now under the firm impression that the 'school' should be bulldozed. Every time I hear about anything repugnant happening in Olympia it virtually always has it's genesis at Evergreen. Seeing the image of the protesters(given my close personal experience with these numbskulls, I think the term 'traitors' is more apropos) I can't help but think of who these punks are. By and large Evergreen pulls many of it's students from out of state, the northern east coast being the most prominently represented. Most of these 'activists' are what me and like minded folks at Evergreen called trustifarians. They live off of mom and dads dime and bemoan the horrible injustice of it all. They are the most pathetic, weak-minded imbecils that I have ever encountered. That being said, it's not suprising that they end up holding the views they do given the nature of the professors coaching them. I had the distinct displeasure of having the venerable Larry Mosqueda as a professor in my first year at Evergreen. The class was called 'Search for Justice' and was basically a litany of complaints against capitalism and detailed why America was a corrupt nation. Larry was, and presumably still is an avowed communist. He truly hates America and looks to Cuba as the ideal every nation should strive for. As a side note, he was the dipstick who counseled Rachel Korry(sp) to go help the Palestinian's against the evil Israelites. I suppose I'm just a biased conservative moron, but when I see this sort of reprehensible behavior happening in Olympia I'm just not surprised.
