sorryeverybody.com is the funniest commentary on the election I've seen so far.
Is it sincere or satire? Either way, it's hilarious. Put down your beverage before clicking over.
[unfortunately it was taken offline shortly after I linked to it. It's a page with pictures of, uh, sorry-looking people holding up signs apologizing to the rest of the world for Bush's re-election]
Hat tip: Power Line

Posted by: Drew on November 5, 2004 09:56 PMI like best the sign asking Osama not to bomb Travis County, Texas. I'm sure that was high on al-Qaeda's target list.
Posted by: Alex Bensky on November 6, 2004 04:43 AMAlex, you just don't get it. It's called being ironic. Texas, get it? Never mind.

Veal apparently was distraught over President Bush's (search) re-election, Newsday reported Saturday on its Web site edition, citing an unnamed police source. The newspaper also said the man was a registered Democrat who opposed the war in Iraq.

~~~THANK YOU WHOEVER FOR DOING THIS!!!!!!!!!!!
I have felt sooooo ALONE!!!!!!!!!!! It's to know there are other intelligent,loving,kind,bewildered people out there!
F.R.I.G.H.T.E.N.I.N.G!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get over it already! The nation has spoken AND made the right choice! Kerry is a loser and that is why he was not re-elected. That's L-O-S-E-R!!!!Get a grip!!!!!
Posted by: Julie on November 9, 2004 10:03 AMDear Julie,
Perhaps you should get your head in the politics game. Kerry was not up for "re-election". The guy who was president for the previous four years was Bush.
Democracy has two requirements, education and action.
Posted by: Jessica on November 9, 2004 10:10 AMWhy was sorry everybody removed? Is this a conspiracy? DAMN THEM (she says as she shakes her fist?
Posted by: Sandy on November 9, 2004 10:29 AMDamn just got done taking my picture for sorry everybody and it's gone! :(
Posted by: Jamie on November 9, 2004 01:10 PMJulie, instead of telling people to get over it, maybe you should let us know why you voted for this president.
Most conservatives I know can't defend their own decisions to vote for a President who has lied to his country to drown our resources in a senseless war. This President cares only about being re-elected. He's sacrificed our economy, our children's education, and the environment.
I don't know how you can defend his performance on the economy or in foreign policy, so perhaps you will start grappling for something -- like MORALITY. As though you somehow own that term. Perhaps you think that pre-emptive war, killing Muslims, bigotry, and intolerance are 'right.' After all, what wouldn't Jesus do the same thing?
Posted by: Janice on November 9, 2004 04:04 PMNote to all Bushies: Please pull your head out of your ass
Posted by: Carlos on November 9, 2004 05:24 PMThank you to Jessica and Janice for their intelligent response!
Posted by: Ann on November 9, 2004 06:39 PMTo all those who wanted Kerry elected I wonder why you would want such an obvious liar as a President. To all those who wanted Bush elected I wonder why you want a President who's actions are influenced by what his father messed up. In the end they're both idiots and I wish everyone could just move on and wait for the next election.
Posted by: Alicia on November 9, 2004 06:57 PMWhy did I vote for Bush, because I am a realist.
I disagree with Bush on CFR, on Medicare expansion, on Ted Kennedy's education bill, and on many other issues. But I disagreed with Kerry more.
I hated Bush's deficit spending, and I think much of it was unnecessary, although a certain amount was necessary because without it, the recession would have been more severe, more people would have been out of work, and more would have suffered. Kerry only promised to spend more, and to impose tax increases, which I believe are bad for everyone.
And the war in Iraq was logical and justified. Perhaps Saudi Arabia and Pakistan were more involved in terrorism, but there was no way we could attack them. On the other hand, in Iraq, we had defiance of 17 UN resolutions to disarm to provide cover. And the strategy has worked, in pulling in terrorists to fight and be killed in Iraq rather than free to attack us at home. I prefer Bush's idea of killing the terrorists before they attack to Kerry's idea of waiting for them to attack and arresting them afterwards (if it's okay with the UN.)
Still, until about May or June, my support for Bush was lukewarm at best. It was the whining and attacks of Michael Moore, MoveOn-dot-org, George Soros, CBS and the New York Times that really engaged my enthusiasm for supporting Bush. Calling me an idiot, a redneck, and a bigot did not exactly persuade me to vote for their candidate, much as Simon, Janice, and dinesh would have liked it to.
Posted by: Brian on November 10, 2004 06:22 PMKerry would have imposed tax increases on the rich. Last time I checked, most Americans don't fall into that category.
And if you call a pre-emptive strike against a country with some second rate dictator who we used to arm "logical" and taking over their oil industry and making as many Muslims as mad at us as possible "justified", then I don't want to think about what possible war you wouldn't agree with.
My point in this is not to start a long, involved debate with someone, but that there's no really "right" on "wrong" on these issues. Just a ton of uneducated voters - on both sides. We're all on completely different pages of the political, economic, and moral spectrums, and not going to convince anyone else to change.
Posted by: Irene on November 10, 2004 09:06 PMHey, at least the people at Sorry Everybody aren't crazy looking gun-toting wierdos who look like terrorists i.e., the American rightwingers wielding big guns on the protest website, "werenotsorry.com"
Extreme Right Wingers don't help their cause with the rest of the country when they wave guns around like common criminals and Osama bin Laden's followers. I mean, if you don't want to be called stupid rednecks, don't post pictures of yourselves looking like stupid rednecks.
Someone finally jumped in with a well-written parody. It's a little short on pictures at the moment, but I'm sure that will all change soon enough.
Just online for a couple of hours, let's see what's happening up there...
Posted by: Thijs on November 11, 2004 08:31 AMInteresting "debate" going on here. i'm with you Kerry fans...although like some anti-kerry's i wasn't totally sold on Kerry as well...but heck, he HAD to be better than Bush with regard to getting our country back into shape! i'm sick and tired of hearing about how great our economy is doing! haven't THEY really looked out there! my adopted home state of illinois has just laid off close to 1/3 of the employees for the state dnr with plans to lay off more. i make great money, but can barely afford to support my family! the deficit is getting out of hand...none of us were around during the depression...you better start talking to you grandparent to learn some survival skills cuz another one is on it's way!
we are suffering due to the selfish actions of a few people who, unfortunately, are our country's "leaders".
I'M OUTRAGED!
Posted by: Denise on November 11, 2004 09:31 AMHow anyone can still maintain that the US invasion of Iraq is, or ever was, justified is quite beyond comprhension! Perhaps those that perpitrated this injustice would like to re-introduce slavery, segregation and capital punishment for theft?
Posted by: David on November 11, 2004 09:46 AMPerhaps those that perpitrated this injustice would like to re-introduce slavery, segregation and capital punishment for theft?
The only thing you have to worry about, David, is that we "perpitrate" capital punishment for spelling errors.
My profound apologies! The result of a hasty submission. But maybe you have hit on something? Spelling may of course be the crux of the matter. Perhaps George W really meant to sodomize Iran instead?
Posted by: David on November 11, 2004 09:53 AMThere are now sites cropping up in reaction to sorryeverybody.com like notsorryeverybody.com and werenotsorry.com.
But wait, there's more, now there is also a response to the responses for those who disagree with those who disagree (or something like that) notsorrynoteverybody.com.
Posted by: Who's Sorry and Who Isn't on November 11, 2004 03:19 PMSo I say to all HAWKS out there. If you believe in the war so much. ENLIST ENLIST ENLIST. Or would you rather have someone else fight your wars? Or do you all have some sort of medical issue?
