This morning at the coffee house there was a young woman with a "Bush satan 2004" sticker on her laptop.
"I like that sticker"I said to her kindly. She returned a wink-wink smile. I continued:
"I was going to vote for him, but now that I know he's satan, I've changed my mind."She kept smiling. It was obvious she had no idea I was being ironic. Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at August 26, 2004 10:50 PM
Go check out the comments at lefty blogs such as Atrios. Irony is a wavelength well beyond these folks' perception. The left has vacated sense. I suspect because a Kerry implosion is on the horizon in November; sensing this impending cataclysm, they are running around like small, confused mammals before a lightning strike or earthquake, unable to give words to their anxiety.
Posted by: Zacek on August 27, 2004 11:34 AMAre you sure the message was that Bush=Satan? Or was it proposing a replacement for Cheney?
I'd like to see the ABB crowd embraced Saddam. After all, he's "anybody," right? And since Dubya took away his job, it's only fair that the ABBs help him take Bush's. I'd like to see "Saddam/Omar 2004" stickers.
Posted by: Steve Skubinna on August 27, 2004 04:13 PMSince she did not say anything, perhaps she was just avoiding what she thought might be an attempt at a clever pickup line...but of course you must turn this into a Right vs Left issue...simmer down. Read Darwin.
Posted by: freddie poo on August 28, 2004 07:11 AMAfter Bush finally invaded Iraq, I used to say to the lefties on the train sporting their "No Iraq War" buttons, the "the button didn't work, eh?"
Posted by: J. Lichty on August 30, 2004 08:33 AMHave you noted that any car with a "Free Tibet" sticker has an approximately 88% chance of also sporting a "No War In Iraq" sticker?
I've always been impressed by those who put Free Tibet stickers ont heir cars... it's taking an awful risk, you know. Some Chinese guy in a tank may come over and crush the car. But it's worth it - Beijing is feeling the strain, maybe five or six more stickers and they're going to crack.
Too bad we didn't try to beat Saddam with bumperstickers.
Posted by: Steve Skubinna on August 30, 2004 02:03 PMBush Satan 2004? Guess ol' Beelzebub finally got up the cajones to dump Saddam. And here I thought Beelzebub was the bitch in that relationship.

Posted by: Tongue Boy on September 1, 2004 01:44 PMShe thinks it's a joke now, but the real Satan will oblige her one day soon. Lies are believed, and lies will be provided.
So sad to see for a country that once rejoiced in the truth of liberty and freedom for all.
