A young man threatened me with violence today because he didn't like what I wrote about his mother, Alice Woldt, a pacifist candidate for the state legislature :
Name: Tim Woldt[Emphasis added] A couple of points of fact. (1) Alice Woldt's views on the war matter because she has made them a priority issue in her own campaign. (2) I've never been to eastern Washington, but I'm sure Tim's remarks will win his mother a lot of new friends there in case she aspires to statewide leadership.
Email Address: wazhapnen@aol.comMy mom rocks. You people make me sick. My best freind groing up was jewish. My mom is no anti-semite. That is a low cheap blow. My mom belives in peace. She belives in defense not offense. Iraq was offense. Besides who the hell cares what her veiws on the war are? Shes not running for the presidency. She wants to represent her districts views and belifes in Olimpia. Go back to eastern Washington and shoot something you conservative redneck. By the way progressive tax systems have a home on "planet earth." Cutting health care and giveing tax breaks to walmart dosent. If your such a tough guy who likes picking on little old woman who go to peace vigils, pick on me. I'm 22 years old and I will teach you how to bleed like a bleeding heart liberal. my number is 206 819 2827. call me up. You punk.
Alice Woldt promises that she
will stand up "for children who need quality care and a good education. As a parent and former elementary school teacher, I know how important it is to prepare our children for the future."Whatever she did to prepare her own son, who, by the way, still lives at home, I want that for all of our children. I say we take up a collection to buy the poor lad a copy of 'Hooked on Phonics.' Who's with me? Anyone?
Posted by: Matt J Kurlander on August 12, 2004 05:03 AMPerhaps the young lad should go back to the elementary school and somebody should make sure the lad doesn't skip classes.

Posted by: jimg on August 12, 2004 08:40 AMDear Tim Woldt:
When she told you she was running for office, your mother should also have told you something else. Political candidates will be attacked for their views. Some of these attacks will seem harsh or unjustified -- in fact, because you support your mom, most of them will. But you must never let any attack make you so angry you lose control. Assume anything you say privately will be published, so always be civil. And if you can't follow these rules, then don't become part of the campaign.
Wow, 22? I thought sure he was unusually ill-educated 12-year-old by the time I was half-way through the letter. Of course, if he's still living at home there's a chance he's actually mentally retarded, in which case I'll feel bad about making fun of him, but also annoyed that his guardians can't keep him from embarrassing himself and them by e-mailing strangers.
Posted by: Dr. Weevil on August 12, 2004 10:00 AMOops, I mean "AN unusually ill-educated, etc." Nothing like exemplifying a fault while criticizing it.
Posted by: Dr. Weevil on August 12, 2004 10:02 AMWhen I was 22, I was serving my country, not living with my mom. But I suppose since his mother is a peace activist, the violent little bastard is against the armed forces.
Posted by: Ken J on August 12, 2004 10:19 AMDo you have confirmation this is from her son?
Posted by: Rabii LNMB on August 12, 2004 12:11 PMYeah, Shark, how do we know you didn't just make this up, huh? And in fact, how can we be sure there really is an "Alice Woldt?" Has anyone ever seen the Shark and Alice together?
Yup, ol' Rabii's got you, dude. You should have known better than to match wits with him, man. Assuming that you haven't invented him, too.
No, wait a minute - if you'd made Rabii up, you'd surely have made him smarter. As it is, he sounds like a less long winded version of Dinesh, whom I also suspect you made up.
Posted by: Steve Skubinna on August 12, 2004 01:55 PMI don't know why you people are so critical of this poor kid. He's just exhibiting what he learned in our government schools in Washington.
Posted by: F.L. Lambert on August 12, 2004 02:13 PMOooh... you're cruel! :)
Posted by: Jacqueline on August 12, 2004 02:32 PMSteve, it's a perfectly legitimate question. It's the kind of ignorant rant someone might post as a parody. So, anyone have an answer?
Posted by: Rabii LNMB on August 12, 2004 05:53 PMI e-mailed Alice Woldt this morning and asked her to confirm whether or not this was written by her son. I'm awaiting her reply.
Posted by: Stefan Sharkansky on August 12, 2004 05:56 PMOMG! LMFAO!
Posted by: Kevin P. on August 12, 2004 07:24 PMMy guess is that Timmeh is one of those "special" kids who rode the short bus. Threatening violence via e-mail falls under the category of "Not Too Bright." What a maroon!

Divining her response: "TIM! YOU IDIOT! I TOLD YOU TO STAY OFF THE COMPUTER WHEN YOU'RE BAKED!!
AND USE THE APOSTROPHE KEY, YOU POTHEAD!!"
The proper use of the word "punk" is very important. Punk is one of those words which requires a level of eloquence not usually achieved by your average schmoe.
I, having been a Sgt in the Army, have risen above (of course) "average Schmoe-ness". I will enlighten you all and you shall praise me (or else).
The mistake Mr Woldt makes is common. He says, "You punk." It is a discriptive noun and not a very "progressive" use of the word. This completely ruins any chance of the P word having an impact, as any moron knows (trust me on this) that it should only be used in place of punctuation - the comma being the most commonly displaced mark. "Go ahead (comma) make my day"
Had he been as experienced as I am, he could easily have deployed something with much more impact - like "You viscous discharge of a clemidia infested rhino pizzle" I know I know, still a low difficulty level, but he could have started SOMEWHERE. Instead he ruined a 4 letter word. Sad.

Well, I'm certainly glad she doesn't want to prepare them for the past.
As a parent and former high school/college teacher I know how much BS it is to read this stuff from liberals about "quality care" and "good education". Does anyone other than all of us conservative red necks prefer "non-quality care" and "bad education"?
hey barcodeking, this is a joke right? :)
