AP headline: "Gunbattles erupt in Najaf as U.S. forces battle cleric's militia"

Maybe this is a stupid question, but if Islam is a religion of peace, then what's a cleric doing with a militia?

"Israel fears attack by Jewish militants

JERUSALEM The Israeli authorities are voicing increasing fears that Jewish extremists may stage a spectacular attack in an effort to scuttle the planned pullout from the Gaza Strip, including a suicide attack on Jerusalem's mosque compound.

Senior sources quoted by the daily Haaretz say they are studying the possibility that militants, inspired by the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, would try to crash an unmanned drone packed with explosives or even a send a suicide bomber to crash into Muslim worshipers during a prayer session."

Hmm, Israel is trying to catch this band of Jewish miscreants. Yet, I hear nothing of the muslims trying to stop sadr from targeting women and children at iraqi mosques that do not worship to the right god.

Should we question the presense of chaplains with our own military? Face it: The Iraq war has been encouraged from the start as a war of religion(s). Rabbis in and with our own military in Iraq? From what I hear..the loneliest job in the US military is Rabbi. Where are the jews within the ranks of the US military?
