John Kerry now promises that
as president he will always talk with people who disagree with himYesterday I both called and e-mailed the Kerry campaign to seek an explanation of his easily refuted statement that "there are more African Americans in jail than in college".
A good start on his promise to "always talk with people who disagree with him" would be to ask one of his staffers to answer my e-mail.
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at July 15, 2004 09:25 AMYeah, he brags about talking to people who don't agree with him while addressing the Democrats' most loyal voting bloc. Let's see if Kerry is willing to go on talk radio with Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, or any other right wing talk show host. They certainly don't agree with him.

In your 1rst post "Kerry Lied" you cite stats that put the number of college black students above 2 million and the prison populatin of about 800-900,000. Then in your later post you show numbers of both around 800-900k?
Which is it?
Posted by: Mike on July 15, 2004 12:03 PMYou don't get it, do you?
Nobody (save you, and a few of your rabid friends) gives a shit when a candidate says a few exaggerated or nonsensical things on the campaign trail. It's a campaign! It lasts the better part of two years, and involves hundreds, if not thousands of speaking appearances. Do you think you could do that, every day, with no mistakes, misstatements or other problems? I know that Dubyah can't -- I have a nifty little desk calendar of his malpropisms.
And, to be fair, when this sort of criticism is leveled at *your* candidates, you bitch and whine about the unfairness of it all.
So, stuff it, shark boy.

Posted by: HotBrownSandwich on July 15, 2004 12:51 PMI'm going to go out on a limb and say Sharky has really hit a nerve with this "calling out Kerry for repeatedly lying about Black College Enrollment" thing.
Posted by: Matt J Kurlander on July 15, 2004 12:53 PMNah Matt
i think that people are explaining their veiwpoints very cool-headed-ly (wink, wink)
Hey look at that a new word

There's a calendar out there of Bush malapropism's---suggesting that there's a cottage industry of folks who are on the lookout for Dubya's misstatements.
Any bets on whether there is one for Kerry?
Or, if you're going to argue that Kerry isn't President, a calendar of, say, Clinton's fibs?
