Human Rights in Palestine

The Palestinian version of "due process":

Mohammed Rafiq Abdel Razek, 42, was gunned down in a public square in the West Bank village of Qabatiya by militants from the Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, a violent group loosely affiliated with Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement.

Militants had hustled Abel Razek into its main square before several hundred townsfolk and asked him: "Are you a collaborator with the Israeli intelligence?" He said: "Yes."

He was also asked if he had sexually molested his two daughters, now 13 and 16, as reported by relatives who said they had disowned him. Abel Razek answered, "Yes."

A gunman turned to the crowd pressing around and asked: "What should his sentence be?"

"Execution!" roared the throng. "Kill him, kill him!" they chanted.

Witnessed by a Reuters news team, the militants pushed the cowering Abel Razek to the ground, riddled him with automatic fire, got into a car and sped off.

The all-male crowd lingered over the body until an ambulance arrived to remove it.

Some spectators looked dazed but many expressed satisfaction, saying, "He deserved it."

Jamal Abu al Rob, a local Al Aqsa leader, said Abdel Razek had been abducted by the group from a nearby hospital, where he was being treated for injuries when a relative stabbed him over the alleged abuse.

"I feel honor for me and my people," al Rob said.

This is not an isolated incident. But Human Rights Watch is mysteriously silent about the Palestinian "criminal justice system". Meanwhile, Amnesty International's #1 priority for the human rights in the Middle East is that Saddam Hussein's trial must be fair.

A week or so ago Qureia, Arafat's prime minister said that they were part of Fatah.

And these despicable barbarians deserve a state of their own? Where is the outrage from all the human rights organizations, the UN, America, Europe, ISM, etc. Deafening silence.

When a father who strangles his daughter for "honor's sake" gets a slap on the wrist... this shouldn't surprise anyone.

This is why the "both sides are to blame for the current conflict" line of thinking doesn't have merit. One side is a civilization, the other an anarchy.

Come on folks - while the silence by AA and their ilk speaks volumes about their standards, this is a relatively positive act by the Palestinian masses.

Yes, I think that killing child molestors is better than suicide bombers and the other atrocities that are so popular among the Pals.

Andy - why are we to believe this guys was a child molester? Because Yassir's boys say so? They were looking for someone to kill as a "collabrator", to scare any real "collabrators" and the charge of "molestation" was just a fig leaf for Western tools.

This is the MO of the PLO: Terrorize Jews; when unable to do so, turn on your own. They deserve a State like i deserve a night with Heidi Klum - actually i am more deserving of Heidi then these death cultists are deserving of oxygen.

I do believe that the Palestinian people deserve their own land and their own freedom. But the ugly incidents described here do no justice to their cause. The end does NOT justify the means. If the people of Palestine can learn to be peaceful and civilized and turn against those who will bring evil to their homeland than maybe they can be accepted into the world family of democratic nations.

I wanted to add something more....

I believe that part of the blame of these incidents goes to Israel as well. If the Israelis want to end incidents like this they very well could but they don't really care about Palestinians.

I heard a report on NPR Radio about several suspects held in jail in Gaza who were facing death for the crime of spying for the Israeli Government. One man interviewed said he was hired to work as a journalist. He took the job not knowing that his employer was the Israeli government. He later learned but it was too late. His bosses would not let him quit and threatened to expose him if he did. In the end he was discovered but the Israelis would not lift a finger to help him.
