The other day I mentioned Deborah Senn, who's seeking the Democratic nomination in the Washington Attorney General race. Senn used to be the state's Insurance Commissioner. As a result of her mismanagement, her office lost its national accreditation. But that's not all she screwed up. A reader e-mails:
This article is quite accurate as to what happened to Washington State's health care -- it was socialized by Lowery and Senn in the 1990s with the result that individual policies (which cover very little) now cost as much as $600 per month.Do read the article that the reader mentioned, which appeared in the March/April 2000 issue of the Medical Sentinel.
In addition about 1/3 of the physicians have left the state or retired -- in Seattle Providence Medical Center which was the CHARITY hospital in the area (they NEVER SUED ANYONE FOR ANYTHING) went out of business along with the Sisters of Providence health insurance pool (lost $30 million in six months playing Senn's roulette...) I know because I was a manager at the institution....
The pool of the uninsured in Washington is growing at an alarming rate -- fewer companies can offer health insurance (on top of the state's tax structure) and the types of uninsured are moving up the scale from temporary workers to those with regular jobs -- ONLY GOVERNMENT WORKERS ENJOY NEARLY UNLIMITED ACCESS TO HEALTH INSURANCE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEIR FAMILIES (OR SAME-SEX LOVERS) --- taxpayers in King County pay up to $900 per month in health benefits for every county worker --
This will not right itself -- ever....the entire health system in the state was brought down and destroyed by Debbie (and Mike) and Hillary -- the doctors have fled, the vast pool of cash accumulated over the decades by insurance companies is gone, and the basic charity care institutions are gone -- they will never return....
DEBBIE SENN IS THE SINGLE MOST DIRECT CAUSE OF THIS CATASTROPHE...
It's tempting to support Deborah Senn in the Democratic primary, but only because she would be such an easy Democrat for the Republicans to beat.
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at June 25, 2004 02:57 PMThis sort of result is, of course, exactly what the leftists want. First you cripple the existing system with bullshit regulations, unfunded mandates, and rabid PL lawyers, so you can claim it's "broken"--then you helpfully offer to "save" everyone with socialized medicine.
As for the government workers with their "special" health care and "special" pensions and "special" god damned everything...well, they're the vlasti, aren't they?
And people wonder why I quit blogging. It's because we're doomed. The game is over. The State has won. All that's left is mopping up the last few pockets of resistance.
This is completely wrong information!
Great the way you "conservatives" have no interest in the truth. Lying seems to be a the standard MO for you slack greedy bastards.
Providence medical center was bought out, and the washington basic healthcare is less then 200$ a month for most people.
Do your homework!
Posted by: Marty on September 13, 2004 02:15 PMThe reason the Doctors are fleeingWashington and several other States is that their payment from Medicare and other insurers is too low. They get paid much less that Doctors in many other states. This is not due to anything Deborah Senn did. It is due to the Republican Congress. Especially Newt Gingrich and his Contract with America. Hospitals are also very negatively affected by low reimbursements and the fund cutting of the care of the mentally ill. Also a fallout from Republicans. Mentally ill people in Spokane have nowhere to go but the hospital ERs. Poor people who do not have insurance have only the ERs to fall back on. The hospitals in WA and in America are taking a beating since Newt made his "contract
"There is a lot of homework to be done on this subject!.This has nothing to do with lazy people who do not really want to work. Some of these heads of families work two jobs, don't get any benefits, and receive low wages - what are they supposed to do let their kids suffer, die, or both? You certainly can't blame Deborah Senn for any to this.
