Scripps Howard News Service reports on the Memorial Day visit of Democratic hopeful John Kerry to the Vietnam War memorial in Washington, DC:
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, who served two tours in Vietnam, paid an early morning visit to the black-granite monument, rubbing his finger along the name of one of 10 soldiers engraved this month on the wall.Scripps Howard doesn't mention this, but there are other reports that Sen. Kerry did more with his finger than merely rub it along the wall:
Democratic senator - and certain presidential nominee - John F. Kerry gave the middle finger to a Vietnam veteran at the Vietnam Memorial Wall on Memorial Day morning, NewsMax.com has learned.I haven't seen the latter report confirmed anywhere other than NewsMax, but it would be consistent with the pattern of finger-flipping observed among John Kerry's supporters. be careful with that rumour mongering! see what happen to brian flynn of the tabloid sun when he was asked to accountable with the facts (he hid behind the paper's pr office, then his wife!
Posted by: dinesh on June 1, 2004 12:20 PMIts Newsmax and after watching the way they reported the news surrounding the Passion and based on what I know and read I don't have too much respect for them as journalists anymore. They are journalists/rabblerousers, with some excellent reporting as well.
Kerry served about four (4) months in vietnam...not "two tours"...
Posted by: Nick on June 1, 2004 02:44 PMThis quote from John McCain is interesting in regard to the NewsMax "news" report:
"I strongly caution reporters who may be contacted by or are interested in Mr. Ted Sampley and the various organizations he claims to represent, and his opinions on the subject of Senator Kerry, or any subject for that matter, to investigate thoroughly Mr. Sampley's background and history of spreading outrageous slander and other disreputable behavior before inadvertently lending him or his allegations any credibility."
"I am well familiar with Mr. Sampley, and I know him to be one of the most despicable people I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. I consider him a fraud who preys on the hopes of family members of missing servicemen for his own profit. He is dishonorable, an enemy of the truth, and despite his claims, he does not speak for or represent the views of all but a few veterans. The many veterans I know would think it a disgrace to be considered a comrade or supporter of Ted Sampley."

Kerry's "two tours" presumably includes his stint on the USS Gridley.
The Washington Post had a story today which may have provided some confirmation to the Newsmax story:
...Ralph Cardinale, 53, a building inspector from Clifton who considers himself an independent, was one of those... "What I don't like about Kerry is he seems to flip... a lot," echoing the constant refrain of the Bush campaign.
Pretty incriminating! And apparently, Kerry's gesture was planned, rather than a spontaneous expression of post-traumatic stress:
George Coates, on the other hand, is torn. "I think Kerry licks his finger and sticks it in the air..."
Unbelievable!
Posted by: Tom Maguire on June 1, 2004 04:10 PMIf you wanted to spread a false story that Kerry flipped you off, why would you include that he called you a felon, why would you include your somewhat obnoxious behavior in the story? We know Kerry's past inappropriate behavior... in the past year alone he has cursed out a Secret Service man, "joked" about Bush's "training wheels" and mimicked smoking a joint. Let's not go into his little "jokes" about Dan Quayle and troops from other countries...
Posted by: HH on June 1, 2004 10:34 PMwow! based on this reporting, its clear that kerry is unfit for presidential duties. i mean, you'd think with conduct like this, well he'd skip out on his military service to get drunk and do a bunch of coke instead of being a decorated war veteran, or you know, fail at a bunch of businesses. hell, given kerry's conduct, i think he might be stupid enough to choke on a pretzel, only to be saved by a dog.
get a real story. how about stem cell research? iraq? osama bin laden where are you? plame investigation? leaks to chalabi? growing budget deficit? what's happening in the pakistan nuclear-ebay sale? how about nkorea? troop deployment in skorea?
no, rather let's attempt to rumour monger about big issues of the day.
now i know why 60% of americans think saddam had something to do with 9/11 attacks.
gee, i wonder what brad pitt is eating for breakfast?
Posted by: dinesh on June 2, 2004 09:36 AMNice source! ho ho. Kerry has proven record of being a vet and hero. Now Bush...ho ho ho. I was in Korea 4 months after war broke out. Then, later, I marched against Viet Nam...so fucking what? does that make me a flip flopper? Bush is a greater flip flopper than we have ever had in national politics. Stop the name calling and deal with reality.
Posted by: Postroad on June 3, 2004 08:24 AMIf Kerry was in Vietnam for only 4 months, it raises the distinct possibility that he was in no more danger than some guy flying fighter planes in the National Guard.
Kerry has a proven record as a decorated vet. "Hero" sounds a bit subjective, like saying he has a "proven record" of being a pompous ass.
what ever happened to clean politics
when i was growing up the canditates discussed
what they planed to do
now all they can do is bash the other guy and you never really find out what is going on with what they want to do with their office
lets get back in the race with good clean politics and stop the back stabbing
