U.S. Senate candidate George Nethercutt is having a campaign kick-off breakfast in Bellevue on May 14. Tickets are $35. Joining Congressman Nethercutt will be special guests Sen. Elizabeth Dole and former Senator Slade Gorton. John Carlson will be Master of Ceremonies.
I met George Nethercutt at a small group dinner a couple months ago and found him to be warm and engaging. Washington needs a new Senator to replace the worn-out ultra-liberal Patty "Osama Mama" Murray. I know George Nethercutt will be a terrific Senator.
I'm organizing a table for the event. So far there are 11 of us, so we have a full table and the start of a second table! Please join us to support George Nethercutt's campaign. E-mail me here if you're interested.
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at May 07, 2004 10:10 AMI'm deeply skeptical that a conservative from Eastern Washington could ever win a statewide election. Is there anything you can do to assuage my doubts? Anything?
Posted by: Timothy on April 28, 2004 09:09 AMSure. A few days ago I was checking the current odds at Campaigns and Elections site, and editor Ron Faucheux (sp?) currently gives Murray just a 57 percent chance to win re-election. There's some small chance that Nethercutt will lose the primary, so we can say that, right now, Fauchex gives him a 40 percent chance to win.
The editor, a Democrat with a good track record of predictions has probably seen the same polls that I have, showing Nethercutt within striking distance. And his early TV commercials look good, just right for appealing to the independents here.
It's worth remembering that, in his first time out, Nethercutt defeated a sitting Speaker and a fine politican. In, granted, a swing Republican district. And that many who now live in Pugetopolis came, like me, from east of the Cascades.
