Israel is not allowed to defend itself

Ha'aretz columnist Ze'ev Schiff, always worth reading, observes today that anything that Israel has ever done in self-defense has drawn criticism:

From the minute the current round of conflict broke out, there have been waves of criticism of Israeli actions, whether offensively or defensively.

First there was criticism of the use of pinpoint snipers by the Israel Defense Forces. In the critics' eyes, it apparently would have been preferable if the army used machine guns, which later came under criticism. The initial use of combat helicopters prompted a wave of complaints. Then there was the ruckus over Israel using F-16s to drop bombs. The criticism also came from the American side, which a few years later used planes to attack targets in Baghdad, even after the American army was in control of all of Iraq.

and
Presumably if we were to defend ourselves in this war of terror by throwing rocks, the world would still complain. Most critics don't believe Israel has a right to self-defense

There is nothing Israel or America could do which would not be criticized. Even after Israel said that it is leaving Gaza, which is what they are demanding, that was seen as a trick. Their insanity and hatred knows no bounds.

After Israel eliminated Yassin I joked to a friend of mine, "Watch they'll call a special UN Sec Council meeting for Yassin now"
I was over mocking the bias figuring the UN could never publically come out for Hamas.

What I noted in emails to several people is here is what happened in March -
1) Syria murdered 80 Kurds peacefully marching for civil rights.
2) Sudanese Northern Arabic Ethnic Muslims are murdering tens of thousands of Southern Sudanese Christian Blacks and attempting a mass genocide and ethnic cleansing.
3) China is threatening with missiles and public pronouncements an invasion of Taiwan, a working successful non violent democracy.
4) The UN has been caught taking billions off the top of money in Oil for Food that was intended for starving Iraqis. 3 yrs ago it was the US that UNnicks and EUnicks (leftists) were accusing of causing '500,000' Iraqi childrens' deaths.
5) Hamas and Al Asqua sent in a suicide bomber who murdered innocent civilians in the port town of Ashdod.
6) Hamas attempted to have a boy smuggle in bombs and when questioned tried to blow him and the questioner up.
7) A female suicide bomber infiltrated by Hamas was intercepted.
8) Israel eliminated the head of Hamas Sheikh Yassin and 3 bodyguards with no apparent deaths of bystanders.

THE UN DID NOT MENTION ANY OF THESE
[Except a brief Koffi statement after months of articles on a potential investigation of Oil for Food Scandal] let alone condemn any of them accept to call a special UN Security Council meeting to condemn Israel for killing Yassin.

Only a wimpy US veto prevented this.
The US wimpily noted that the Resolution did not equally condemn Hamas by name for violence against civilians - ie.. terrorism.
The UN does not mention by name any Pal terrorist group and as if Israeli actions are in any way equivalent to Hamas or the PLO!
