Daniel Pipes picked up on my recent entry that recited several of Colin Powell's toothless statements insisting that the Palestinians "end terror".
Pipes takes these statements as an indication that "there's something fundamentally wrong" with American diplomacy toward the Palestinians. He recalls his essay from a year ago "Does Israel Need a Plan?", which explains why diplomatic initiatives toward the Palestinians keep failing, and proposes a more sensible approach. [I Ignore intentionally the exaggerated description as you've put it: 'as bad as Africa', as it was handled already by others commenting to 'The Independent', but this is rather on the 'blaming game']
I was shocked in dismay how when 'The Independent' 'pitied' the 'palestinians' , they've connected it so wrongly to the real victim: Israeli Innocent & their defenders.
Not one word in their article has mentioned the plight of 'palestinian' kids in (so many) vicious parents hands, indoctrinating them into the death & rationalizing-murder, glorifying baby-killing, hate & destruction, straight from the umbilical cord to Jihad, Is this a mere 'detail'? HARDLY!
Not one paragraph about Billionaire Arafat Thieve! Is this a mere 'detail'? HARDLY!
Of course 'malnutrition' occur when a leader is literally stealing international aid from his poor into his fat Swiss bank Wallet, be; Butcher Saddam, or Butcher Arafat.
Of course poverty will occur when all the resources are diverted to one sole industry: TERROR & It's accessories: propaganda including oiling & terrorizing-threatening media, hate 'education,' and money distribution as an encouragement to 'fallen' deliberate Homicide Genocide bombers' families.
Of course destitute will occur when instilled intentioinally & carfully by adults (no "desperate" "impulses" excuses!) aspiration in the young are only to be "like that mass murderer Jihadist".
Of course 'malnutrition' will occur when their leaders, Mullahs, teachers, parents doom them right at the cradle, Israel's hands are perfectly clean, no matter how she chooses to defends her innocent unarmed civilians, no matter how many gestures (More so since Barak etc. moreover since giving them the opportunity of 'maybe even a gift of a never-before-State') she offers, THIS CULT is unfortunately here to stay still regardless, CRUEL VICIOUS on BOTH SIDES' POPULATION.
