What kind of society should we be?

President Bush believes we should be an "ownership society":

A compassionate society must promote opportunity for all of us including the independence and dignity that come from ownership. This administration will constantly strive to promote an ownership society in America. See, we want more people owning their own home. We have a minority home ownership gap in America. I proposed a plan to the Congress, starting with helping with the poorest of poor make a downpayment for a home, to close that gap. It's in the national interest that more people own their own home.

We want people owning and managing their own healthcare accounts and their own retirement accounts. We want more people owning their own small business. This is an administration that understands when someone owns something, he or she has a vital stake in the future of our country.

An ownership society sounds pretty good to me.

The Democrats, meanwhile, believe we should be a resentment society, a theft society and/or an intergenerational transfer society

Clark is a total idiot. Does he really think that the wealthy are going to sit back and let themselves be robbed blind? If tax evasion is a problem now it will be pocket change in comparison with what will come if his and the dems have their way. Funny thing about dems, particularly the wealthy ones, they never seem to be able to resist any legal tax deduction or avoidance scheme. For class envious fools who vote democrat, look in the jobs section of the newspaper,do you see any poor people hiring? Making the rich poor isn't going to make you richer.
Ever wonder why Latin American countries are all poor? They try taxing the hell out of the wealthy and the wealthy keep most of their money outside of their countries. It's not for nothing that Miami is the capital of Latin America and most of Mexico's money is in Los Angeles or Houston.
It has been said that one of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result each time. Leftist economic policy has beentried over and over again throughout the world without success, therefore to be a leftist is to either a luntic or an idiot.

I've always wondered why the left doesn't recognize that low marginal tax rates bolster economic growth and provide the Federal Government with ever increasing revenues that those with misplaced bleeding hearts can use to fund social programs? Layering ever higher taxes, more regulations and retreating from global trade mean less resources, less wealth and less freedom. The evidence of leftist policy failures abound. But I guess it's not really about results but intentions and control.
