Here at the Shark Blog, our favorite Kosher dill pickle comes from Bubbies of San Francisco . Well okay, the pickles aren't made by a real Bubbie, the company is based in Stockton, not San Francisco, and the jar's label confesses that the pickles are manufactured in Canada.
So why should that be a problem? These are still good pickles. Mahlzeit!.
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at October 30, 2003 01:54 PMAmazing. The only non-fresh sauerkraut my wife and I like is Bubbies. Unfortunately, the only place to get it where we live is the ultra-expensive health food place, and they've not been able to stock any for the last 4 months. I'm having withdrawal.
Posted by: Matt on October 30, 2003 02:42 PMHello, I dont see Bubbies Pickels made in Canada- but MEXICO!!! NU?
Posted by: Another Yiddle on March 15, 2005 02:38 AMTruth is we went to Mexico because we ran out of pickles!
Each year we must project our needs for the next 18 months. We try to guess our growth rate and some to spare, and usually some to spare after that. The state of the art plant in Mexico has the geographical advantage of being in the tropics where pickling cucumbers can be grown and fermented almost year around. This move should also eliminate our shortage problem soon. I am particularly pleased to be using fresh garlic cloves in the jars again.
The recipe is the same and we worked with a food scientist to insure the same process. The well water is certified pure and conforms to the highest FDA standards, I assure you.
As of this date we have products made in the US, Canada and Mexico...is a long story.
Our reputation is built on high quality, authentic, old fashioned products. We will do our best not to disappoint you. Bubbies Pure Kosher Dills, Dill Relish, Pickled Green Tomatoes and Old Fashioned Sauerkraut are naturally fermented and cured in salt water brine according to Bubbie's hundred year old recipes. Our sweet Bread & Butter Chips are first rate and very crunchy like all our products. We are now offering both a Prepared Horseradish and a mouth watering Beet Horseradish as well as our brand new Sweethot Mustard.
We encourage you to tell your friends about Bubbies and to keep requesting our products in your favorite store. Consumer demand is the key to success!
Posted by: John M. Gray on May 17, 2005 04:12 PMAs a Southern California transplant to North Idaho, Bubbies is the only thing we REALLY miss! I have asked our two local markets, Safeway and Walmart to carry them- even took in an empty jar to give them all the information they needed- but to no avail. Any other suggestions?
