Reports From the Islamic Conference

Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed declared that Jews Rule the World by outsmarting everybody else (unfortunately we're not quite smart enough to have concealed our conspiracy from the omniscient Dr. Mahathir).

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan warned of rising hostility between Islam and the West, describing it as "ugly, dangerous and wrong".

In a statement to the opening of a summit of the 57-member Organisation of the Islamic Conference, Annan said Western governments must address the grievances of Muslims, while Islamic states needed to make greater efforts to overcome their problems
Unfortunately, the Islamic world's fundamental grievance against the West is the existence of infidels.

The news story goes on to report that the leaders of the 57 states in attendence "represent 1.3 billion people". Here is an interesting quiz question: How many of the 57 states in the OIC actually have legitimately representative governments, as opposed to, say, absolute monarchies, one-party dictatorships or strongman kleptocracies?

Outside estimate, 15. Probably more like 8-10. You caught the ellipsis problem with the quote; it should read:

Western governments must address the grievances of Muslims' absolute monarchies, one-party dictatorships or strongman kleptocracies.

See, Kofi ain't such a dithering futz after all.

Somebody should tell Kofi Annan that he will be eaten once the tiger (of reflexive anti-americanism) throws him off. Interestingly, if not ironically, Mr Annan said in his address that he "hoped to see Christians and Muslims reconciling in Sudan and perhaps Cyprus." Muslims oppressing (and worse) Christians in both cases.

I can only count 2 countries. Turkey and Bangladesh. And both of those countries have had multiple military coups in the past few decades.

I don't have a list of the 57 members but can anyone add to the 2 I have listed?

Another story that promotes fear! Build fear, and America consumes.

My count is seven, but I'm probably being generous.
