Palestinian Authority

Yassir Arafat showed who's boss by appointing his own man as acting security chief, in a "new blow to Palestinian Prime minister Ahmed Qureia", who is on the verge of quitting. Arafat forced out his last prime minister, Abu Mazen, after only four months in the post.

In an interview last month, Peanut Laureate Jimmy Carter answered the question "Is Yasser Arafat the main obstacle to peace as the US and Israeli governments describe him?" by saying

I think it's just kind of an excuse to blame everything on Arafat who has practically no authority even among his own people.
Good call, Jimmy.

Proof positive [again] that if Jimma Carter makes a foreign policy statement, that statment is wrong, and will be proven disasterous within 3 to 6 months.

A) "his man" What is Queria? if he's not his man?
He got Abu Mazen dumped and then put in Queria, "his man" himself and then appointed the entire cabinet, that is supposedly, "Queria's Cabinet"

B) Its a stretch to see Mazen as a so-called 'moderate', but now by playing into Arafat's game, Queria is now able to position himself - via Arafat and his maneuvering (see Ereket's constant resigning and magically and miraculously re-appearing)as a so-called "moderating force"

Don't I remember the "powerless Arafat" claim from years ago? Obviously none of the participants in this tragedy believe this anymore. Jimmy should keep building houses.

In any event, can't or won't, it doesn't really matter. Sad to say, I'm afraid Abu Mazen was correct when he said ending the terror will require a Palestininan civil war.

Perhaps she can write a new interpretation of the history of the Third Reich, claiming that SS volunteers were "the result of a society that has lost all hope and is driven by despair".
