What Does 'Hudna' Mean?

According to my dictionary (The Hans Wehr Dictionary of Modern Written Arabic), hudna translates as:

calm(ness), quietness, peace, tranquility, stillness; pause, intermission, cessation; truce, armistice
It also seems to mean "Uncle!"
Hamas said on Friday it had met a Palestinian delegation in Cairo in recent days and was ready to discuss any idea - including a new truce - to stop what it called Israeli aggression against Palestinians.
...
Hamas, under relentless Israeli air strikes that have driven leaders underground, is facing its worst crisis with threats of instant assassination from the sky, loss of funding at home and abroad and a showdown with a reformist Palestinian Authority committed to a U.S.-backed peace plan.

"ready to discuss ANY idea -- including a new truce -- to stop what it called Israeli aggression against Palestinians"...

Gee. Here's an idea -- stop suicide bombings, and declare public support for the existence of a State of Israel larger than a postage stamp?

I dunno. You've never done it before; try it, it might work.

I'm reminded of the old joke about the professor, working late in his office, who gets a visit from one of his students. She's an attractive, nubile sophomore, with blonde hair and big eyes, with a few buttons undone and a seductive attitude. She enters the professor's office and pleads with him -- his course is very important to her GPA, she says, and she's willing to do anything to get an A -- *anything*.

He looks up in surprise and says, "Anything?"

She leans toward him and whispers, with quiet urgency, "ANYTHING."

He leans toward her, and whispers: "Would you... study?"

It sure sucks to be a Hamass member these days! *grins*

Just as "liberals" do, they can dish it out, but they cannot take it.

Little green infidels has the 39 step handbook for jihad, which lists the tactic that hudna should be requested but never adhered to.And puppet boy quit this AM.So I guess Arafat is back in the driver's seat. This week will be a turning point,I think.
