Today's Seattle Times reports that

Two Pakistani men are being held in Seattle after an airline employee at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport found one of their names on a terrorism-related no-fly list Saturday night.

One of the men, 36, carrying a British Columbia driver's license, paid cash for a one-way ticket to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. After the airline employee called 911, the man left the counter, abandoning his ticket.

The other man, 29, who had a New York driver's license, also paid cash for a one-way ticket to Kennedy Airport on a different airline, police reports show.

After their arrests, the men told investigators they paid to be smuggled into [Washington state] from Canada last month, two sources said.

Some friendly advice to all aspiring al-Qaeda sleepers: After you successfully infiltrate into the United States, avoid getting on airplanes where you might be detected. Instead, why not hang out in Seattle, where the city government will celebrate and protect you.

It has been said that liberalism is the philosphy of suicide. The Seattle ordinance is a good demonstration of that.

Let's not forget that it was the Seattle Immigration and Naturualization Service that released John Lee Malvo rather than deport him.
Granted this is federal and the arrest was in Bellingham but one wonders if they haven't become marinated in that Seattle culture.
Ref the Malvo incident
The reasons given appear to be financial but perhaps that's to rationalize the release.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this foolish and dangerous Seattle ordinance the type of issue Tom Ridge should be correcting as Secretary of Homeland Security?

Also, how in the world could any group of responsible citizens pass an ordinance that is detrimental to the security of the whole country?

And you've got to sympathize with the cops who have to put up with the city council telling them what kind of questions they can ask. Sheesh!

I've got to ask one more question. Was this Seattle ordinance passed because illegal aliens wouldn't apply for welfare benefits because people would discover they were illegal and not entitled to welfare?
