Arab League snubs Iraq council

CAIRO, Egypt — Arab League members decided yesterday not to recognize Iraq's U.S.-appointed Governing Council, saying they will wait until a government is elected.
The article doesn't pose or answer this question, so I will offer it as a contest for my readers: How many of the 22 member states of the Arab League have genuinely elected governments?

How many Arab countries are our "allies"? Wait, don't answer.

The number of Arab League elected governments is close enough to zero that a new diplomatic tactic is now available for US use, after that declaration from Cairo. When any member of said League implores, begs, demands, accuses, suggests or otherwise wishes that the US should take or refrain from some action, the Administration need only declare it done - as soon as the Leage is fully and openly elected.

the near east is not the only area of the world that does not have a democracy. the usa is actuaaal one of the few first countries to do so. (i think switzerland was the first ) so its a relatively new idea. and ours also had a civil war. (switzerland didn't) to make any progress in that area a working democracy would change everything. but the powers in surrounding countries are not so keen to this idea being right next door.
