Ha'aretz reports that
United States Ambassador to Israel Dan Kurtzer presented Prime Minister Ariel Sharon with the 'road map' to Middle East peacemaking ...(It was also hours after a representative of Abu Mazen's Fatah "party" detonated himself a couple of doors away from the US embassy in Tel Aviv, killing a number of innocent people. If that's not a good enough reason to move the embassy to Jerusalem, I'm not sure what is. But I digress)The road map, backed by the Quartet (comprised of the U.S., European Union, Russia, and the United Nations) was released hours after the swearing-in ceremony of reformist Abu Mazen and his cabinet
Whatever the specific details of the "road map", does it not seem ironic that, apart from the United States, the members of the "Quartet" are:
a) Russia, the same country that gave the world the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and the words "pogrom" and "refusenik"
b) The European Union, which not only funded the PA, but is also the successor to the various states that perpetrated the Holocaust
c) The United Nations -- the "Zionism is Racism" people.
Of course, the EU is not Nazi Germany, and today's Russia is not the same as Tsarist Russia or Soviet Russia. (The UN, on the other hand, is no better than it was in 1975). Either way, it's hard to imagine that many Israelis would look to Russia, France/Germany, and the United Nations to guarantee their security. Would you?
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at April 30, 2003 09:29 AMGood point, so who from Israel agreed to this nonsense? Luckily, it has no chance of being followed.
Posted by: quiet storm on April 30, 2003 03:40 PMWho agreed? Sharon agreed. We need a prime minister like Yitzhak Shamir who had balls the size of Sharon's disgustingly fat well fed stomach while many Israelis are unemployed!
Sharon keeps on referring to a Palestinian state like an American puppet.
Can you imagine the jokes in Washington about the fat Jew in Jerusalem who will now do anything for $1 billion in grants and $9 billion in loan guarantees?
I am sure James Baker that Jew-hater and adviser to Bush is chuckling down in Texas.
Does Sharon have the guts [pun intended]to stand up to Bush [the man who cavorts wit Arab despots in Saudi Arabia]?
I say no. I say that Sharon is not the fighter from 1973 who crossed Suez - he is the fat old man about to sell out the Jews worse than Peres and Rabin who brought us the Oslo War.
Why is it that we Jews are our own worst enemies?
Why don't you wait to see what happens before ripping him to shreds. He has an incredibly difficult job and he is the first prime minister in 25 years to be reelected, so I guess the people who actually live in Israel aren't as unhappy as yourself.

Last time everyone waited, Rabin, Peres and Barak almost gave away Yesha including a large chunk of Jerusalem!
>He has an incredibly difficult job and he is the first prime minister in 25 years to be reelected,>
Big deal. What was the alternative? Mitzna?!
>so I guess the people who actually live in Israel aren't as unhappy as yourself.>
And this is based on?
For well over two years the Oslo War has raged. People in Israel will not be willing to abide by the decisions of some idiot Texan and a fat old man.
Watch and wait. At the time of Olso people like myself were even scarcer on the ground. This time there is no "Oslo euphoria".
It remains the intention of the Arabs to destroy Israel.
Unfortunately Israel does not have a Yitzhak Shamir or the courage of its earlier days.
Israel is now an altruistic country with a corrupt government that is scared of Bush and unions led by socialists ready to wreck the economy.
They want aliyah from the United States? Become the Israel that was.
