Coming soon to a war theater near you! (click on picture for larger size)
I had no idea that Oliver Sacks, neurologist author of "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat", was the first cousin of Abba Eban. Sacks gives a touching personal tribute to his departed cousin.
One of the IndyMedia pindits displays self-reflection:
Omar [Chaikhouni, the alleged camera-smasher] is probably in royally deep S**t, which is probably where he belongs, since he does our side no good, because we're already stereotyped by the Zionists as anti-semitic, violent assholes. Those damn Zionists with their unfounded stereotypes.
An aide to Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien is in trouble for calling George W Bush a "moron". Let it slide. I'm sure that most of the folks who work in the White House call the Canadian PM either "Mr. Cretin" or "that syrup-swilling appeasement moose"
Posted by Stefan Sharkansky at November 22, 2002 08:03 AMStefan--I followed the link you provided to the Indymedia thread.
I read a bunch of web logs (first time here), trying to pick my way to a reasonable, humane, decent position on some of the issues of the day, notably the mess in the Middle East. From my point of view, on the whole, hawks seem to have more logical and compelling arguments than doves. For what it's worth, and, of course, much depends the values a person brings to the discourse.
Anyway, that thread (first time there too): Ewwww.
It's creepy in its content--somebody finds and posts your phone number in a manner that seems to invite crank calls to your home?!
And creepy in its tone. By their posts, many in this anti-war crowd are not polite, and not much interested in exchanges of ideas.
I hope other people like me check out that link. I hope the anti-war posters appreciate that they are on display, and moderate their bile.

Posted by: Joe D. Foster on November 22, 2002 09:37 PMHey, was the idiot, the one who though Hezbollah's humanitarian operations, could
not be curtailed, who sat on a dais with
that francophone community leader, Nasrallah
of that same organization. Who thought US
foreign policy, was geared to certain domestic
politics (does that mean, his anti-Israeli stand
is a sop to the former Ukrainian and Croatian
emigre communities in France. No, he was the

Canada needs a new government. When's the next election?
